Salzkammergut Headboard with Custom Drawings

Historic farmhouse beds from the Salzkammergut region were usually made from local softwoods such as Swiss stone pine (Zirbe) or spruce. They are functional and often decorated with floral or religious motifs or initials. Pieces from the Biedermeier period, in the early to mid-19th century, are particularly characteristic.

This design interprets the traditional farmhouse bed in a contemporary way, combining its characteristic styling with the requirements of a modern bed. The size is based on the standard dimensions of 90 × 200 cm and allows for flexible use as either a single or double bed. The result is a contemporary piece of furniture that fits harmoniously into a home in the Salzkammergut (or anywhere else).

The headboard is made from solid spruce 3-ply panel, with visible knots and small cracks that lend it a rustic character. The headboard is painted in color with a visible brushstroke finish.

Two headboards can be used together for a double bed. The price for a single headboard is €568, plus shipping costs.
